Course overview

Earn your first professional rating with the PADI Divemaster course in Raja Ampat, where you learn to guide and assist on some of the most demanding reefs in the Coral Triangle. Working alongside instructors at current-swept sites such as Cape Kri, Sardine Reef and Blue Magic, you build the dive-leadership judgement and stamina that high-flow Dampier Strait diving demands. This PADI dive course is the first step on the professional scuba diving path.

What you’ll learn

• Lead certified divers and assist instructors on training courses
• Plan and brief dives for strong-current Raja Ampat sites
• Demonstrate the 24 dive skills to demonstration quality
• Conduct dive-site mapping, deep and search-and-recovery scenarios
• Manage real diver groups and respond to in-water problems
• Apply dive-theory knowledge across physics, physiology and equipment

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and theory

   Programme briefing, dive-theory study and the start of your skills assessments.
2. Day2
   Water skills and stamina

   Complete the swim, tow and equipment-exchange assessments and demonstration-quality skills.
3. Day3
   Dive leadership workshops

   Practise briefing, supervising and guiding certified divers on local reefs.
4. Day4
   Mapping and scenarios

   Map a dive site and run deep and search-and-recovery practical scenarios.
5. Day5
   Course internship

   Assist an instructor with real students in the calm shallows near Mansuar.
6. Day6
   Assessment and certification

   Final exams, rescue assessment and the issue of your Divemaster rating.
