The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty extends your no-decompression bottom time in Mauritius. Largely a knowledge-based course, it teaches you to analyse and dive with enriched-air blends so you can spend longer on the reefs around Flic-en-Flac, particularly during repetitive dive days at Cathedral, Aquarium and the island's deeper sites. You finish certified to dive nitrox to 40 percent oxygen.
The PADI Enriched Air Diver specialty is mainly a knowledge-development course, with optional training dives, and certifies you to dive blends up to 40 percent oxygen. It counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
Nitrox is especially valuable on the multi-dive days that Flic-en-Flac's varied reefs invite, extending bottom time across sites like Aquarium, Snake Reef and the deeper Cathedral during the calm November-to-April season.
