The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty lets you dive longer with shorter surface intervals by breathing air with a higher oxygen content, a real advantage on Trincomalee's reefs and deeper rocky sites. It is mainly a knowledge course with no required dives, teaching you to analyse cylinders and set your computer so you can extend bottom time over Pigeon Island and the Swami Rock area.
PADI Enriched Air Diver is the most popular specialty and counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating. It is primarily a knowledge-based course; dives are optional rather than required.
Nitrox is especially useful on Trincomalee's deeper rocky sites and around Pigeon Island, where the extended no-decompression limits help you make the most of the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side.
